The aim of basic studies is to provide the student with a comprehensive overall view of the position and significance of the field concerned within society and working life and in an international perspective, to familiarise the student with the general theoretical basis of the field and with communications, and to provide the student with the sufficient language proficiency necessary for practising the profession and for further professional development. (Vararehtorin päätös 13.10.2016 § 16) The aim of professional studies is to familiarise the student with the main problems and applications in the professional field concerned and their scientific or artistic basis in order to allow the student to work independently in the field in either expert duties or development work, or as entrepreneur. Free-choice Studies | 10 | |||||||||||
Day students and blended students choose studies that support their personal career plan either from Oulu University of Applied Sciences or other higher education institutions. Studies can be selected from Campus Online (https://campusonline.fi/) or Oamk's fields of expertise (https://www.oamk.fi/opinto-opas/opintojen-sisalto/opetussuunnitelmat). Students can also complete free-choice studies in working life, association activities or hobbies. The completion of free choice studies may be restricted, if the progress of compulsory studies slows down due to the completion of elective studies. The student expands the professional competence by studying study modules or courses offered by Oulu University of Applied Sciences or other higher education institutions. Alternatively, the student completes free-choice studies, e.g. in working life, association activities or hobbies. Student chooses 10 ECTS credits according to personal learning needs. The implementation of the studies is agreed upon with the tutor teacher or the head of the degree programme. The studies may consist of partial attainments. If the course is evaluated on a scale of 0-5, grades 1-2 can be entered as H (passed) in the transcript of records at the student's request. |

Practical Training | 30 | |||||||||||
The aim of practical training is to familiarize students with practical duties of major importance in relation to their professional studies, in particular, and with the application of knowledge and skills in working life under supervised conditions. (Vararehtorin päätös 13.10.2016 § 16) The commencement of practical training is linked to the completion of studies in educational sciences and substance pedagogy, and it can only be started after the student has completed the courses: AT00DW44 Elements of Dance and Pedagogy AT00EM76 Learning and pedagogical guidance AT00EK09 Basics of Education Other prerequisites for practical training courses are described in the course descriptions. Of the practical training, 24 ECTS credits are included in the professional pedagogical studies of a vocational teacher of 60 ECTS credits. If the course is evaluated on a scale of 0-5, grades 1-2 can be entered as H (passed) in the transcript of records at the student's request. |
