AT00EJ07 | Teaching Basic Competence in Specialization Dance Genre (10 cr) |
Prerequisites | If necessary, the starting level suitable for the course objectives is demonstrated with a starting level test, the implementation of which is decided by the head of degree programme after the HOT procedure has been initiated. If necessary, the student and the tutor teacher, study counsellor or head of degree programme discuss the other recommended studies in personal study plan discussions. |

Content | Terminology of dance education. An atmosphere conducive to learning in dance teaching. Demonstration of dance skills to support learning. Selection and use of suitable music. The core phenomena of the dance genre, the contents of the lessons and the structure of the dance lesson. Learning situation management. Basic movement material and its teaching in a specialization dance discipline. Basic concepts and elements related to the specialization dance genre. Analysis of the culture of teaching the dance genre. |
Recommended optional programme components | If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan. |
Accomplishment methods | Participation in contact teaching classes offered by Oamk's dance teacher education degree programme, as well as studying and demonstrating competence as described in the implementation plan. OR Demonstration of acquired competence (HOT). The student starts the HOT procedure in Peppi by preparing a HOT application. Application is to be addressed to the tutor teacher or to the head of degree programme in dance teacher education. |

I choose and use music suitable for the target group in teaching. I lead learning in a teaching situation. I select and use dance movement material suitable for the target group in teaching. I describe the basic concepts and elements in the context of the dance genre FAIL The student does not demonstrate competence described in the "Passed" section of the assessment criteria for one or more assessment items, or the competence cannot be assessed. In this case, the grade is recorded as zero in the study register. The student has two semesters to increase the failed grade from the date of recording the course attainment. |
