Description


AT00EM63 Orientating to Finnish Folk Dance and Pedagogy (4 cr)
Prerequisites If necessary, the student assesses his/her competence or participates in a competence level demonstration before starting his/her studies. If necessary, the student, teacher, tutor teacher, degree coordinator and/or study counsellor go through the student's competence and/or other recommended studies in Personal Study Plan-discussions.
Objectives I act responsibly in developing the capacity of my bodily skills. I can dance typical Finnish folk dance genres, such as: song and circle dances, dance games, quadrille and minuet. I dance folk dance based couple dances in the roles of leader and follower, such as: scottishe, jenkka, mazurka, waltz, polska and polka.
I can tell about the core phenomena, teaching culture and methods of Finnish folk dance cultures. I evaluate my skills and development needs in relation to the cultural priciples of folk dance.
Content The basics of kinesthetic empathy and physical interaction, dancing in the community, basic manifestations of folk dance styles, the relationship between dance and music as well as the spatial and kinesthetic orientations of social dances. Studying the culture of folk dance. Exploring the pedagogy of folk dance.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Contact teaching, learning assignments, demonstration of dance and dance teaching skills at an assessment event in accordance with the instructions of the study module included in the dance teacher education programme in Oamk or demonstration of competence in accordance with a personal study plan. The student proposes a personal method of completion by initiating the HOT procedure in Peppi. The HOT application is addressed to the folk dance teacher dance teacher.

5. I dance according to the style of the material and recognize the movement management factors that are part of the dance.
6. Control of the rhythm of music is noticeable from my movements.
7. I use suitable dance terminology.
8. I can tell about the core phenomena, teaching culture and methods of Finnish folk dance culture.
9. I act responsibly in different learning situations and environments, taking into account others.
10. I evaluate my skills and development needs in relation to the operating cultures of folk dance.
