AT00EN85	Special Competence in Show Dance and Pedagogy (20 cr)
Prerequisites	No prerequisites needed.
Objectives	RESPONSIBLE WORK I act responsibly in the holistic development of my skills and follow the agreed schedules. I assess competence development, development needs and strengths. I use professional terminology that is appropriate to the situation and appropriate from the perspective of the target group. I participate in building an atmosphere conducive to learning. SUBSTANCE MANAGEMENT I dance genre-specific advanced dance technique that shows mastery of the special skills and dance style of the dance genre. PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCE I apply knowledge of the special characteristics of the dance genre in my own teaching. I understand the factors affecting the objectives, contents and structure of basic and advanced level show dance teaching. I plan, implement and evaluate basic and advanced level show dance teaching in a pedagogically justified manner. I describe the factors influencing the core phenomena of the dance genre, the learning contents and the structure of the dance lesson. I choose and use rhythmically diverse music suitable for the target group. I lead learning in a teaching situation and direct my attention to the needs of learners. CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE I make use of the knowledge I have acquired about the culture of show dance cultures. I describe dance genres/forms related to show dance. I describe the peculiarities of one of the dance genres / forms related to show dance. I describe the teaching cultures related to show dance.

I analyse the factors influencing the objectives, learning contents and structure of basic and advanced level show dance teaching. I plan, implement and evaluate the teaching situation of basic and advanced level show dance in a pedagogically justified manner. I choose and use rhythmically diverse music suitable for the target group, consciously proportioning it with the dance material. I take learners into account in teaching situations and give constructive and encouraging feedback. CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE I utilise the knowledge I have acquired about the operating culture of the dance genre when analysing the dance genres/forms and special characteristics related to the dance genre. excellent (5) RESPONSIBLE WORK I work in a self-directed manner in competence development. Through my activities, I support collaborative learning and help others. SUBSTANCE MANAGEMENT I produce dance material characteristic of show dance, which shows a personal bodily expression combined with dance technical skills. PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCE I present new, insightful perspectives to develop my show dance teaching. Basic and advanced level show dance teaching involves careful preparation, sustainably justified method choices and utilising one's own strengths. I give constructive and encouraging personal feedback to learners in a teaching situation. CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE In analyzing the dance genres/forms and specifics related to the dance genre, I present new perspectives. I apply a broad knowledge of the dance field and connect show dance to the broader framework of Western dance. pass/fail FAIL The student does not demonstrate competence described in the assessment criteria in sections 1–2 of the assessment criteria for one or more assessment items, or competence cannot be assessed. In this case, the grade is recorded as zero in the study register. The student has two semesters to increase the failed grade from the date of recording the course attainment.
