AT00EM64 | Orientating to Show Dance and Pedagogy (4 cr) |
Prerequisites | If necessary, the student assesses his/her competence or participates in a competence level demonstration before starting his/her studies. If necessary, the student, teacher, tutor teacher, degree coordinator and/or study counsellor go through the student's competence and/or other recommended studies in personal study plan discussions. |
Objectives | I act responsibly in the development of body skills. I dance the basic movement material of show dance in a sporty style as required by the situation. I dance in relation to the playing music. I will tell you about the core phenomena, teaching culture and methods related to the learning of show dance skills. By my own actions, I promote a safe learning environment. I assess the development of competence and my development needs and strengths in relation to the operating cultures of show dance. |
Content | The basics of kinesthetic empathy and physical interaction, dancing in the community, basic manifestations of show dance styles, the relationship between dance and music as well as the spatial and kinesthetic orientations of show dance. Interaction and reflection. Studying the culture of show dance. Exploring the pedagogy of show dance. |
Recommended optional programme components | If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan. |
Accomplishment methods | Contact teaching, learning assignments, demonstration of dance and dance teaching skills at an assessment event in accordance with the instructions of the study module included in the dance teacher education programme in Oamk or demonstration of competence in accordance with a personal study plan. The student proposes a personal method of completion by initiating the HOT procedure in Peppi. The HOT application is addressed to the show dance teacher. |
