1P00BM85 The ABCs of Teaching in English (3 cr)
Prerequisites This course is intended for participants with a level of B2-C1 (CEFR) in English.
Objectives We will have a look at the skill levels needed for using English as the language for teaching. Employing videos, spoken tasks and written essays, the students will be directed towards better English usage and more confidence in classroom situations. The students will also learn to utilize online and other resources.

This course is intended for participants with a level of B2-C1 (CEFR) in English. This course is not meant for native speakers of English but rather for those who need an extra nudge.
Content Using virtual sessions in language teaching
-Different levels of spoken English (and finding a suitable level or oral competence)
-Academic writing skills (in preparing tasks, examinations etc.)
-Classroom English: Getting past the first rigidity
-Getting the students to talk in English
-What sort of help is available for preparing English-medium teaching resources?
-What are my own strengths in teaching in the classroom through the medium of English?
-What do I need to do to become an even more effective teacher in the classroom?

Pretask (length 1-2 pages):
Write an essay (Name: "Tools for Teaching in English -Pretask- My name"
Pretask topic:
My experiences in using English in Studying and Teaching. How did I learn the language? What are my strengths and weaknesses?
Email the Pretask to two (2) weeks before the first on-line contact day!
