Exchange Studies (archive/23-24)

Kindly note that it is possible to pursue studies only from one of the offered programmes due to timetable constraints. Exceptionally, you can mix programmes by selecting courses from two different teaching periods. Please select the programme and choose courses according to your home university's and Oamk's workload requirement, which is usually 30 ECTS cr per semester. You are also required to stay for the whole mobility period, as long as learning activities last. Below please find the programmes for 2023-24. We will publish the ones for 2024-25 by the end of February 2024, but we expect only minor changes. N.B. ! The programmes in Software Development, Automation Engineering and Electrical Engineering are running in 2023-2024 for the last time. They won't be offered anymore in 2024-2025.

  • Interdisciplinary Studies

Our university offers opportunities for interdisciplinary projects in the frame of an exchange for studies or traineeships. Please check what we offer:

    Game LAB (Autumn 2023)

Game LAB is an English-medium non-degree programme offered by Oamk in autumn 2022 and 2023 and it is based on former Oamk LABs (*).

The programme is suitable for 3/4-year Bachelor's and Master's level students of graphic design, ICT/programming, business/marketing, producing, music. There are approx. 5-7 seats for exchange students.

Game LAB has to be pursued as a whole (30 ECTS cr) due to pedagogical considerations:

    Autumn 2023 (group ID): EXY23SGLD
YY00BR00-3029 Concept Creation (Game LAB), 15 ECTS cr
YY00BR01-3027 Demo Creation (Game LAB), 15 ECTS cr

In Game LAB, you will deepen your knowledge and skills in game development. At first you will generate and pitch project ideas among students. You will then work on a project in interdisciplinary student teams following a business-driven approach.

Throughout Game LAB, your student team will be guided and coached by academic/professional staff of Oamk and relevant industry/company representatives. You can pursue Game LAB as a study exchange.

The focus of the Game LAB projects is nowadays on rapid product development (idea to product in less than 4 months):

    • Projects have a very narrow scope
    • Target platform is mobile / 2D / 3D
    • We have 2-3 test rounds - to validate your product
    • Projects are ended by means of retrospectively looking into the learning outcome and failures of the demo products and team work.

In a nutshell, we are providing a very quick and harsh dip into the game industry.

If need be, you may obtain more detailed course descriptions by clicking on the course links above, or from the course search website of Oamk by entering the course code and/or name, We advise to search for courses by its basic code (e.g. YY00DU55) or by name (e.g. Finnish Language 1: Survive!). You can also pursue the Finnish Language 1: Survive! in addition to the Game LAB courses mentioned above.

In case of questions, please refer to .

(*) Oamk LABs was a unique and internationally renown pedagogical model developed and implemented at Oamk 2012-2019. DevLAB and EduLAB have ended or rebranded in autumn 2019. Game LAB focuses nowadays on rapid product development, as outlined above.

Have a look at videos (short / long version) giving insight into the original Oamk LAB approach through the eyes and words of students. Here is also an article about the Oamk LAB pedagogical model.
