FoodWay
The purpose of the FoodWay - Developing the traceability and safety of food chains in Northern Ostrobothnia project is to advance the traceability and safety of food value chains in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland, in cooperation with regional, national and EU-level actors and networks.
The project will:
- model the region’s food production value chains in relation to traceability and food safety monitoring by way of pilot activities;
- produce information on commercial and potential future technological solutions relevant to various stages and needs of the region’s food production value chains;
- enhance communication of product origin and other product-attribute information to consumers; and
- activate the region’s food companies to participate in activities of the EU-level Smart Specialisation Platform for Agri-Food.
The project addresses the development needs of companies operating in Northern Ostrobothnia’s food value chains to enhance their monitoring, verification and communication activities related to product traceability and food safety. The activities are implemented by the Oulu University of Applied Sciences and the Council of Oulu Region between 1 April 2020 and 31 December 2021.
