In addition to their technical skills, graduates learn also the methods of project work and communication techniques as well as the economic operating principles of the industrial life. These themes are studied in integrated courses together with professional topics.

In the Option of Software Development for Embedded Systems the student will study design of different equipment with the aid of practical product design projects. The student will study hardware and software development of low power ICT-based equipment beginning from product specification towards tested prototype.

The aim of the studies is to develop comprehensive competences in project work. The main focus of the option is on product development, and thus a major part of the studies are carried out in practical R & D projects in cooperation with the local companies in the final phase of the studies.

A graduate is able to work as a designer, product developer or expert in different kinds of companies which use IT.

Students are divided into two groups according to their options as early as in the beginning of the first year of study. The options are Equipment and Product Design and Software Development. The studies proceed mainly in the same group throughout the four years of study.

A considerable part of the studies is carried out in a teacher's guidance in class rooms and laboratories. However, successful learning also requires independent studies outside the class rooms. It is possible to carry out a part of the studies virtually via the networks or in the international student exchange.
