What type of activities do you like and what features are important to you? What kind of things belong to you daily life? For example, the client and the occupational therapist will discuss these things together and think of ways how clients could take part in activities. Occupational therapists can adapt activities so that the client is able to participate because it is meaningful and pleasing to him/her. During the training, students learn a variety of activities and learn to use them for the client. The occupational therapy plan is based on the assessment of the client's occupations. Assessment guides occupational therapy planning and implementation which may include individual and / or group therapy. Working together is essential in occupational therapy. Occupational therapists are also consulted if the client's home or the surrounding area have to be changed to meet the clients individual needs. Occupational therapists are experts in local and regional co-operation projects to promote the wellbeing of citizens.
Occupational therapists are working as occupational therapist, instructors or experts in hospitals, health care centers, centres of rehabilitation and research, special schools, social services, as private entrepreneur and project work. Beside clientwork occupational therapist is working as part of multidisciplinary team. She is also affecting to decision making and attitudes.Growing area for occupational therapy is enable wellware and prevent separation of children and adolescence, working with clients with problems of abuse, enable capasity of work, enable elderly to live at home environment and human technology.In degree programme of occupational therapy student is active and responsible for her process of learning. Multidimensional education is a self-directed weekly stay. It includes lessons, uncomplicated distance learning and independent study in the online learning environment. Workshops are for learning skills of assessment and therapeutic interventions and for occupations, that will be analysed and adapted for therapeutic purposes. Fieldwork education is one third of studies and will be carried out mostly in workplaces of occupational therapists.
