AT00DW65 Advanced Studies in Folk Dance (20 cr)
Prerequisites Preliminary skills for the required objectives ot the course.
Objectives I draw up the learning outcomes for developing my own folk dance skills and knowledge. I act responsibly in the development of competence in the framework of folk dance in different learning situations and environments, taking others into account. I dance the movement material and repertoire of the advanced level of folk dance in a genre-like style in relation to the music playing. I use improvisational methods in situations characteristic of the genre of folk dance. I apply the informational understanding of embodiment and body intelligence in learning and interaction situations. I analyse the core phenomena related to learning folk dance skills, teaching culture and methods, and performing folk dance as an art form. I develop teaching material and teaching methods. I am participating to the development of working connections. I assess the development of competence and development needs as well as strengths in relation to the operating cultures of folk dance.
Content Dance technique: focus, three-dimensionality of movement, gestures of the body and hands, the ability to distinguish body parts, balance and air support.
Improvisation in folk dance.
Dance material: enkeliska, solo polska, imitation dances, percussive foot work and dance tricks
Danceable sense of style and expression: A multi-level expression of movement dynamics. The interaction of dance and music. West Coast characterization.
Group dances: Menuets and polska
Pair dance: Swedish and Norwegian polska, variation and improvisation in pair dance
Interaction and reflection.
Information retrieval.

7. I reflect on my own actions, I can assess my successes and possible needs for change or development.
