The objective of dance teacher education is to educate future dance teachers who are versatile and professionally skilled. Student is studying to achieve a professional competence of dance teacher and is able to use versatile teaching methods. Student is also capable of connecting pedagogical thinking to practice. The main emphasis in the education is to develop the students' professional identities as artistic pedagogues.
The degree includes 60 credits/ECTS credits of pedagogical studies in cooperation with Oulu University of Applied Sciences School of Vocational Teacher Education.
Students act as dancers, teachers, choreographers and they are part of a event managing team during their studies. In addition besides the dance studies the internship and dance pedagogical studies are laying solid foundations for dance pedagogical professional identity. Also the entrepreneurship's viewing point is present in studies.
It is possible to take part of the studies in an international student exchange program.
