AT00DW59 Complementary Studies in Folk Dance (20 cr)
Prerequisites Preliminary skills for the required objectives of the course.
Objectives I set learning goals to develop my own dance skills as well as increasing the professional knowledge. I act responsibly in the development of the capabilities and the skills of dance in different learning situations and environments, taking into account others. I will dance the intermediate level dance material and repertoire of folk dance in its appropriate style. My dancing is in good interaction with the played music. I apply the understanding of the body and the body intelligence in learning and interaction situations. I analyse the core phenomena, teaching culture and methods of learning the skills of social folk dance form. I apply the progressional movement teaching method. I plan, teach and reflect the teaching of folk dance class. I participate in folk dance events with professional orientation.I evaluate the development of my skills and development needs as well as my strengths in relation to folk dance cultures.
Content Setting and reflection of personal skills objectives. Anatomical and kinesiological basic concepts in folk dance.
Dance technique: core-distal work, shoulder plate support, use of potential and kinesthetic -energy, flow of movement and expansion of spatial movement capability.
Sense of dancing style and expression: rhythm of movement, expression of dynamics and musical dancing. Carelian character.
Social group dances: quadrille and country dances, call out square dances, polonaise
Couple dance: Deepening the body knowledge and interaction of the folk couple dance species. Types of dance: slow polka, hamburska and forms of polska that are moving around the dance floor : hamburska, åtta bak, taigapolska, triolipolska. Formula dances.
