| Objectives | Part 1. ORTHODONTIC CARE (1 ECTS) The student gains basic knowledge about orthodontic care and the role and job tasks of a dental hygienist in an orthodontic team. This part is only for Finnish students. PART 2. SUPERVISED CLINICAL PRACTICE (2 ECTS) The student will be able to - guide clients in questions related to oral health care - work in cooperation with other professionals - dental hygienist's area of responsibility in the treatment of patients in the Teaching Dental Clinic PART 3. SUPERVISED PRACTICAL TRAINING IN THE HEALTH CARE CENTER (12 ECT) The student will be able to - define the responsibilities of an oral hygienist in a health centre - can perform the most common periodontal and orthodontic tasks. - carry out oral health examinations in his/her area of responsibility, plan treatment, implement treatment and evaluate the outcome of treatment. - carry out client-oriented individual and group counselling. - act in a patient-safe manner, in accordance with ethical principles. - collaborate with health professionals and other stakeholders Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) PART 4. | Content | Part 1. ORTHODONTIC CARE (1 ECTS) Principals, exercises and other tasks concerning commonly used methods, materials and instruments in clinical practice as well as in orthodontics . PART 2. SUPERVISED CLINICAL PRACTICE (2 ECTS) Cooperation in the Teaching Dental Clinic. The patient care process in the Teaching Dental Clinic. PART 3. SUPERVISED PRACTICAL TRAINING IN THE HEALTH CARE CENTER (12 ECT) The tasks of the dental hygienist's area of responsibility in patient care. Health promotion and client-oriented individual and group counselling. Environmental safety and ethics. Multidisciplinary cooperation. PART 4.
