Objectives | Part 1. OCCUPATION OF DENTAL HYGIENIST AND CODE OF ETHICS 2 ECTS The student will be able to - describe the development of the profession of dental hygienist - describe the oral health service system - describe the different environments and partners in which oral health professionals work - define the areas of professional competence of the dental hygienist - outline the ethical principles guiding the oral health professional's work - explain the key ethical obligations and legislation in the health care sector and the main regulations relating to oral health care - understand their professional responsibilities at individual and population level Part 2. SAFE DENTAL ENVIRONMENT (3 ECTS) The student will be able to - describe the basics of aseptic practice - define the key issues related to a safe care environment - apply their knowledge at different stages of the equipment care process - describe the safe use of dental instruments and equipment - act in an environmentally friendly manner - justify the importance of a safe care environment for patient care and staff work |
Content | Part 1. OCCUPATION OF DENTAL HYGIENIST AND CODE OF ETHICS 2 ECTS Dental hygienist occupation: history, job description, prerequisites. The role of a dental hygienist in the dental care system. Essential legislation and ethical principles in health care. Part 2. SAFE DENTAL ENVIRONMENT 3 ECTS Dental environment. Factors contributing to a safe dental environment; asepsis. Patient records. |

OCCUPATION OF DENTAL HYGIENIST AND CODE OF ETHICS 2 ECTS Pass Passed: Students will be able to knowledge of the evolution of the professional history of the oral hygienist. Students will be able to knowledge of the professional activities of the oral hygienist (context, job description, professional competence and ethical principles) and the role of the oral health care service system. Students will be able to understand the ethical principles that guide the work of an oral hygienist and be familiar with the key ethical obligations and legislation in the health care sector and the main regulations related to oral health care. Fail The performance does not meet the criteria for creditable performance. |
