7T00DF02 Crisis and Trauma (5 cr)
Prerequisites First year studies.
Objectives The student analyzes and explains psychological crisis types and their significance to human well-being. The student evaluates the need for crisis support and applies elements of crisis interventions and trauma-informed practices in professional interactions. The student appraises her own well-being and the risk of compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatization. The student applies the principles of self-help.
Content Psychological crisis types. Coping with crisis and psychological recovery. Coping with grief. Traumatic reactions. Children, adolescents and crisis. Crisis support, counseling and interventions. Trauma-informed practices. Coping with work-related stress, compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatization. Principles of self-help.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
