Description


OS00DY29 Practical Training of Pediatric Nursing (18 cr)
Prerequisites The student has completed Pediatric Nursing I and/or II or other advanced studies that support the internship. In addition, the student must have completed 140 credits.
Objectives The student
- masters the essential knowledge and skills required in the overall care of the paediatric patient in ward/policlinic work
- will apply evidence-based knowledge on different diseases in their work
- manages the administration of medicines and fluids to children and adolescents in accordance with the principles and safety of infection control
- manages the appropriate communication of the different stages of the care process
- applies different methods of guidance in a family-oriented way
- applies his/her interaction skills to the situation
- justifies his/her actions and treatment decisions on the basis of evidence-based knowledge
- is able to act as a responsible medical care expert in a multidisciplinary team and as a coordinator of the patient's overall care
- analyses his/her own competence and development and is able to participate in the development of the work community
- act ethically and in accordance with sectoral legislation
- reflect on the quality of evidence-based nursing care for children and adolescents
Content -Pediatric nursing in different settings
-Fluid and drug therapy in pediatric nursing
-Guidance for children, adolescents and families
-Aseptic, erogonomic and patient-safe pediatric nursing
-Multidisciplinary teamwork, communication, information and continuity of care
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Before the placement, I set out the learning objectives for the placement and write a CV/portfolio of myself for my internship.
I actively seek guidance to support my learning.
I do the learning tasks for the internship.
I will use a medication passport.
At the end of the placement, I will write a self-assessment.
Execution methods The placement will usually take place in a paediatric ward or outpatient clinic in a specialised hospital. Alternatively, in a healthcare unit where children, adolescents and their families with various illnesses are treated.
