Description


OS00DX17 Family Nursing (7 cr)
Prerequisites The student has completed all previous theoretical studies in nursing or has equivalent previous knowledge.
Objectives 1) The student
- is able to support and promote wellfare of the children and family.
- knows the meaning of illness, special needs and the meaning of hospitalisation to the children, adolescents and their families.
- takes into consideration the speciality and principals of pediatric nursing and the nursing process
- understands the importance of play in pediatric nursing
- knows the bills of medicines for children and understands the importance of medication and fluid management in hospital care
- is able to select and use clinical nursing assistance methods suitable for pediatric nursing work
- knows how to resuscitate a child patient of different ages

2) Basics of sexual and reproductive health
Student
- understands the different dimensions of sexuality (e.g. physical, psychological, cultural and ethical)
- recognizes and is able to discuss the contents of sexual and reproductive health (SELI-health) in client and guidance situations related to different age periods of a woman and different life situations of families
- knows the connection of medications, diseases and procedures with human sexuality
- understands the normal course and follow-up of pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium period
- understands the principles and specifics of female nursing, as well as the process of gynecological nursing
Content 1) Basics of pediatric nursing 3ects
Nursing principals and spesific features of pediatric nursing.
The effects of the illness on the child and his/her family at different ages.
Play as part of pediatric nursing.
Nursing of different diseases.
Assessment and management of pain in children
Medical treatment of children and adolescents.
Meeting and guiding of children, adolescents and their families.

2) Sexual and reproductive health in the life cycle of a woman and a family.
Sexuality and sexual guidance in nursing.
Pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
Unplanned out-of-hospital delivery.
Neonatal care and assessment of well-being.
Guidance in family nursing.
Nursing for Women's Health
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods I demonstrate my competence with learning assignments and tests in theory and demonstration tests, as well as in learning situations during practice classes.
Execution methods I develop my competence by acquiring knowledge related to different thematic contents by doing learning assignments and familiarizing myself with the topics independently.
I apply my nursing skills when working in practice and simulation classes.
I demonstrate my competence in the theory exams of the course, in the medication calculation tests and in the proficiency test.

-I understand the principles and characteristics of pediatric nursing
-I know how to bill children for medicines and understand the specificities of fluid and medication management in pediatric
nursing
-I can select and implement some clinical nursing interventions for children and young people
-I know the meaning of play in pediatric nursing
-I know methods for assessing and treating pain in children of different ages
-I can resuscitate a child patient of different ages

2) Basics of sexual and reproductive health
- I name the different dimensions of sexuality
- I identify (SELI health) contents in client and guidance situations related to different age periods of a woman and different life situations of families
- I know the connections of individual medications, diseases and procedures to human sexuality
- I know and describe the normal monitoring of pregnancy, childbirth and the child's season without any justification and causal links.
- I recognize the principles and specifics of female nursing, as well as the basics of the gynecological nursing process.
