Prerequisites The student has completed:

Objectives The student:
-learn about the care and service system for the elderly.
-is able to evaluate the health and functional capacity of an elderly client and the factors affecting them.
-is able to plan and assess the need for care and services for the elderly in a client-oriented and multidisciplinary manner.
-is able to guide and support the client and their relatives in the management of health and illness.
-is able to carry out nursing care that promotes rehabilitation at home.
-will master the key clinical skills required in home care.
-has a client and resource oriented approach when planning and implementing nursing care and services.
-is able to apply skills of nursing in a multi-professional team and network of care and services.
-will identify development needs related to care of the elderly.
-confirms to ethical principles.
-identify his/hers skills and development areas.
Content Nursing care for the elderly in the home
Health promotion and prevention services for older people
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Nurses' knowledge, skills and ethical competence as carers of older people in home care. Practical mastery of the content of the course Client-centered care of the elderly 5 cr.
Execution methods The training is carried out in a public or private home care setting under the supervision of a nurse.

The student's practical training is approved when the teacher has approved the hours and objectives of the training.
At the end of the placement, the student evaluates his/her own competence by means of a written self-assessment and requests written feedback from the placement supervisor.
The written assignment during the placement will be discussed in the course information session.

Further Information Students can demonstrate their competence if they have a degree in home care and work experience as a home care nurse in the following fields:
At least 1 year of experience: 3 weeks of practical training
