OS00DW12 Microbiology, Pathology and Pathophysiology (3 cr)
Prerequisites Anatomy and Physiology
Objectives The student
- recognises concepts related to microbiology, pathology and pathophysiology.
- remembers the basics of microbial structure and function.
- remembers the main features of the structure and function of the body's defence (immune) system.
- remembers causes and consequences of disorders of organ functions.
Content Microbes. Infectious disease. Immune system. Inflammation. Tissue healing. Tumours. Pathology and pathophysiology of the circulatory system. ECG. Pathophysiology of the respiratory system. Renal pathophysiology. Disorders of glucose metabolism. Disorders of acid-base balance.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods The student demonstrates his/her competence through exam.
Execution methods The student develops his/her knowledge of microbiology, pathology and pathophysiology through lectures and other assigned material.
