| Content | - Key concepts in nursing and the nursing relationship. - Principles of nursing and evidence-based good care: including infection control, basic ergonomics and rehabilitative nursing. - Ethical and legal responsibilities in nursing (confidentiality, data protection) as part of patient safety. - Basic patient needs and vital signs, related nursing activities and methods of monitoring and observation (ABCDE basics) and communication (including ISBAR basics, NEWS scoring). - Collection of samples (haemoglobin, blood glucose, urine, stool, throat) - Principles of emergency first aid and basic resuscitation - Care of the dying patient - Structured record-keeping in line with the decision-making process. |

| Execution methods | I will familiarise myself with the content areas of the course through lectures and/or recordings. Prepare for the practice sessions by completing the online assignments and pre-assignments before the sessions according to the instructions given. I will demonstrate my competence in the exam and in the practice sessions. |

| Further Information | - If the student has completed equivalent studies at another university of applied sciences, the course can be approved on the basis of a HOT application and supporting documents. - If the student has a degree in nursing, part of the classroom exercises can be approved as indicated in the course info. However, the course assignments and exam are mandatory regardless of any approval. Student time and workload: 7h x 27h = 189 hours of student work |
