7Y00DL03 Bachelor Thesis (15 cr)

Objectives Planning of the thesis 5cr
The student prepares a feasible research or project plan
The student selects an appropriate topic for his/her thesis the perspective and boundaries and justify the choices in terms of the field of work and his/her own professional growth
The student seeks information on the chosen topic and development method and critically evaluates the sources used
The student defines the concepts relevant to the topic in the knowledge base, their interrelationships and summarises previous research and/or other reliable evidence-based knowledge
Students select and justify appropriate research or development methods and identify factors related to the quality, reliability and ethics of the methods selected
The student establishes appropriate working relationships, draws up a plan of intent and a cooperation agreement
The student will work towards the objectives, within the set timeframe and resources and makes use of guidance

Implementation of the thesis 5 cr
The student implements the thesis plan in accordance with the contracts and available resources
The student collects and analyse research data or carry out the operational phase of the thesis (e.g. intervention, product, event, method)
The student uses the theoretical framework and apply research and/or development methods appropriately when considering implementation options and making decisions
The student works in an ethically responsible and safe manner, in accordance with the practices and methods and the cooperation agreements concluded
The student uses appropriate tools, methods and working relationships
The student resolves problems that arise during the working process in a constructive manner
The student works in a goal-oriented, planned and customer-oriented manner in cooperation with working life

Thesis Reporting and Evaluation 5 cr
As an expert in her/his field, the student writes an understandable and coherently structured thesis report in good Finnish or Swedish according to the Ouas thesis guidelines.
The student produces a clearly delimited, structured and coherent theoretical framework based on appropriate and reliable source material
The student describes the implementation phase of the thesis and its results in a comprehensive and reliable way, justifying the results
The student evaluates the results of his/her thesis in terms of the development of his/her field and his/her own professional growth.
The student justifies and evaluate the thesis process and his/her own learning
The student evaluates the benefits of the results for the target group (clients/users) involved in the thesis
The student evaluates the benefits and usefulness of the results with the cooperation partner
The student produces a written maturity report based on his/her thesis
The student presents thesis at a conference or other development forum or to a partner and prepare a self- and peer-evaluation of the thesis
Content Implementation of a thesis 5 cr
- Implementation of the thesis (data collection and analysis or product design and implementation)

Reporting and evaluation of the thesis 5 cr
- Preparation of the thesis report, carrying out the evaluation, presentation of the thesis
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Not applicable
Execution methods Throughout the process, the thesis is mainly guided by a work-based guidance (can also be group guidance).
In addition, guidance is also provided in workshops (e.g. methodological workshops)

The thesis will be presented at an agreed event, conference or similar project-specific or other appropriate event with the partner. The presentation will be agreed with the principal supervisor. Further Information If the student has a Master's degree, he/she has the opportunity to demonstrate his/her thesis-related knowledge (phenomenon, process and methods) with a literature search-based article based on his/her previous knowledge.
