TS00BN57 Strength of Materials (5 cr)
Prerequisites Statics
Objectives Upon completion of the course the student knows the basic concepts and phenomena of strength of materials. The student is able to determine dimensions of simple strut and beam structures based on the theory of elasticity.
Content Mechanical properties of materials. Normal and shear stress and corresponding strains. The dimensioning of tension, compression and torsion strut, as well as a beam in accordance with the strength of materials. The deflections of a simple beam. Buckling of a simple strut.
