| Objectives | The student will know concepts and basics of building design as well as its process and the regulations of design. The student will understand the role and importance of building design task in house construction. The student possesses the basic knowledge of the typical structures of a site and building interior, and of doors and windows in house construction. The student knows the regulations and demands of building physics regarding the actual construction of these structures. The student is able to use and apply sources of information and implementation plans in actual construction work. |
| Content | Regulations, sources of information in building design. Building design concepts in reference to functionality and economical aspects in new building projects and refurbishment. Estimating costs of construction in new building projects and refurbishment. Sketch level buildings design proposals for small size new building and refurbishment projects The site: surface structures, vegetation, facilities and the structures of a site. Windows, doors, and interior parts (partition walls, false ceilings, raised floors, light stairs etc. structures, modular units, building equipment, surface structures and materials and treatment methods). Building regulation of previous structures. Implementation documents: structural specifications, work specifications and designs of structures. |
