Description


OQ00DY24 Mammography examinations and interventions, clinical training (3 cr)
Prerequisites Prerequisites, theory course completed with approval: OQ00DW15 Asiakaslähtöiset mammografia- ja ultraäänitutkimukset ja -toimenpiteet
Objectives The student can explain the client's/patient's treatment path from screening to follow-up examinations and clinical mammography. The student knows how to carry out evidence-based mammography examinations and mammography-guided interventions and can explain cooperation and safety culture in multi-professional teamwork. The student can care for and guide the patient/customer individually and safely in mammography examinations and/or interventions.

The student can explain the factors affecting image quality and radiation dose optimization in mammography examinations. The student can evaluate the implementation of radiation exposure and image quality optimization. The student knows how to perform radiation safety quality assurance tests and explains the meaning of the test results for imaging.

The student knows how register patient data in the patient information systema and recognizes the responsibility in keeping patient information confidential and follows data protection practices. The student knows how to implement continuity in patient/client care.

The student reviews the safety culture of the mammography environment and knows how to prepare for abnormal incidents. The student explores the first aid readiness of the unit and knows how to act in emergency situations. The student explores the principles of economic and ecologically sustainable development.
Content Mammography examinations and mammography-guided interventions. Guiding and caring for the patient/client in mammography examinations and procedures. Observation and follow-up of the patient/client. Safe use of contrast agents and first aid preparedness. Ergonomics and asepsis. Adoption of safe working practices in mammography imaging and procedures. Quality assurance and optimization of radiation exposure. The radiographer as an implementer of multi-professional cooperation.
