The content of the curriculum consists of radiography and radiotherapy studies, the studies concerning basic skills of health care, communication studies, research and development studies and professional training. The study requirements include the bachelor's thesis.

Studies consist of academic studies and professional training. Academic knowledge is multiscientific and it uses knowledge from radiography, nursing science, natural and medical sciences, and sociologic and behavioral sciences. During the studies it is important to learn to apply the knowledge in client's/patients' examinations and interventions. This is emphasized especially in professional training. Teaching methods are used versatile in academic studies. You learn to use x-rays safely, to guide and care clients/patients in examinations and interventions and quality assurance in the radiological department of the university.

The professional training consists of a training period in all imaging and radiation therapy contexts which are located in basic health care and in specialized health care and in private clinics The traineeships are located all over Finland.

Part of the studies is possible to study as exchange studies. The bachelor thesis can be made in cooperation with the working life.

Self-directive and cooperative learning are the main principles in learning. It is expected that you are active and responsible for your own studies. Your studies are supported according to your personal learning plan.

The degree programme leads to a Bachelor's degree in Social and Health Sciences with the title of radiographer. Radiographers are licensed as health care professionals by Valvira, the National Agency for the Licensing and Supervision of Social and Health Services.
Graduated students are certified as radiographers. They are able to work client-oriented in radiography and radiation therapy and able to justify their work according to professional knowledge. The majority of radiographers work in hospitals, health care centeres and in private clinics, carrying out imaging examinations, procedures or radiotherapy. In examination and treatment situations, the radiographer's responsibilities range from working independently to working in a multidisciplinary team. Radiographers may also work for equipment manufacturers, industry and environmental health services

Radiographers' professional competency consist of skills of patient caring and guidance, skills in imaging examinations and interventions, skills in radiation therapy, skills in safe use of x-rays and quality assurance. The radiographer's professional activities emphasise safety, for example in the use of imaging equipment, knowledge of the effects of radiation, quality work, use of health information systems and support for the well-being of the client/patient in examination and treatment situations.

Curriculum includes studies, which must be passed in English. Tasks regarding professional training base on items from the working life.
