OQ00DY23 Radiotherapy, professional training (9 cr)
Prerequisites Professional studies in Radiation Therapy must be passed (including drug dosage calculation).
Objectives The student is able to plan and carry out radiotherapy safely and with high quality. The student is able carry out patient-centered, individual and holistic radiotherapy. The student is able to monitor the patient's overall health and give guidance to the patients. The student is able to ensure continuity of care. The student is able document and record patient information. The student identifies the first aid preparedness in the radiotherapy unit and is able to act in emergency situations. The student is able to work in a multidisciplinary team in a radiotherapy unit. The student demonstrates good working life skills through his/her behavior. The student is able to forecast and prepare for acting in an emergency situation. The student is able to apply the principles of ecological, economic and social sustainability in radiotherapy. The student is responsible in maintaining confidentiality of patient data and comply with data protection policies. The student is able to plan, carry out and evaluate a teaching event.
Content External and internal radiation therapy. Radiation protection in radiation therapy. Radiation treatment planning and carrying out radiotherapy. Side effects of radiation therapy and treatment of them. Patient-centered and holistic care for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Quality of the art of radiotherapy. Elements of good quality of care and ethical issues in the art of radiation therapy. Radiotherapy equipment and quality assurance. Radiographer´s role in the interprofessional collaboration.
