Description


OQ00DW28 Radiological Procedures of X-ray Examinations (5 cr)
Prerequisites -
Objectives Part 1. (3,5 ECTS): Radiological Procedures of X-ray Examinations
The student familiarizes him/herself with the X-ray examinations of respiratory organs and the skeletal system. The student is able to describe the factors that affect planning, implementing, and assessing radiological procedures of X-ray examination. The student knows how to implement patient dose optimization in X-ray examinations. The student also has knowledge of the factors affecting the quality of radiological procedures of X-ray examination. The student has gained the skills needed to recognize changes from the norms. During the radiological procedure, the student demonstrates the ability to assist patients having problems with the musculoskeletal system.

Part 2. (1,5 ECTS): Anatomy of Skeletal System and Joints
The student knows the normal structure and functions of skeleton and joints. He/she has gained knowledge of the basic body structures and their reciprocal proportions.
Content Part 1. (3,5 ECTS) Radiological Procedures of X-ray Examinations: X-ray examinations of upper and lower extremities, trunk and head. Thorax X-ray examination. Patient guidance and nursing care during plain X-ray examinations. Patient dose optimization in X-ray examinations.

Part 2. (1,5 ECTS) Anatomy of Skeletal System and Joints: Bones of the human skull, trunk and extremities in details. Detailed joint structure.

Accomplishment methods The student demonstrates competence through learning assignments.
Execution methods The student develops skills by active learning, acquiring knowledge, and practicing.

Part 1:
The student identifies the factors that affect planning, implementing, and assessing of radiological procedures of X-ray examination. The student identifies the factors related to patient dose optimization in X-ray examinations. The student also identifies the factors affecting the quality of radiological procedures of X-ray examination. During the radiological procedure, the student identifies the techniques to assist patients having problems with the musculoskeletal system.

Part 2:
The student recognizes some concepts related to the anatomy of bones and joints. The student can name some bones, joints and structures. The student can describe the location of bones and joints, and the function of joints in general.

good (3-4)
