Objectives After completing the course, the student is able to implement customer service and patient examinations in the optometry field for customers of different ages and backgrounds. The student is able to screen for eye diseases. The student is able to work in patient care in a multi-professional, holistic, responsible and independent manner. The student is able to work independently in the most important tasks of eye care in various operating environments. The student becomes acquainted with ophthalmology, ophthalmic laboratory services, ophthalmic surgery, refractive surgery, and other activities closely related to the eye care field. The aim is the proper implementation of the core competencies of the profession within the framework of the laws and regulations governing the activities. The student works in the health care unit in a customer-oriented manner, applies the researched information in practice and follows the ethical principles of his or her field. He is able to follow the principles of occupational and patient safety. The student is able to use digital patient information and examinations systems.
Content Customer service and patient care. Eye examinations near and far. Eye examinations from different individual needs. Final refraction and spectacle prescription for different age groups. Contact lens fittings for different age groups and screening for eye diseases. Identification and treatment of binocular vision problems. Examination of children's vision. Familiarization with ophthalmology, ophthalmic laboratory services, ophthalmic surgery, refractive surgery, and other activities closely related to the field. Completion of the Miniportfolio.
