| Objectives | Students can define and describe spectacle frame materials, designs and symbols on spectacle frames. Students has the basic knowledge about the care, measurements and manufacture of spectacles. They can describe the physical and optical properties of the ophthalmic lenses The student gains knowledge about various spectacle frame materials and tools used in spectacle manufacturing. The student is able to dispense spectacle lenses by hand. The student gains an understanding of frame measurement systems. The student familiarizes him/herself with the manual lens centration and edging process. The student demonstrates ability to use the lensometer for verifying and spotting single vision lenses. |

Treatments and coatings of ophthalmic lenses. Handling and working on different frame materials. Spectacle frame care Frame measurement systems Edging and bevelling spectacles lenses by hand Frame measurement systems, Minimum Blank Size, Effective Diameter Use of a lensmeter and lens clock Standard alignment Frame fitting Measuring Pd and fitting heights |
