OK00BY16 Medical and Natural Science Aspects in Midwifery (7 cr)
Prerequisites The student has also completed at least 140 CR in nursing degree programs or equivalent knowledge. Medical Studies in Nursing studies incl. similar topics or equivalent knowledge.
Objectives 1)
Embryology and Genetics
Embryo development. Development, growth and differentiation of organs at fetal stage and during childhood. Modes of inheritance. The most common hereditary disorders; genetic counselling; prenatal diagnosis; genetics.

Gynecology:
Student logically summarizes knowledge of endocrine disorders, etiological factors of gynecological diseases, symptoms and clinical features, examinations and medical care.
Obstetrics:
Student adds to his/her knowledge of obstetrics and obstetrical anesthesiology and generalizes knowledge to midwifery practice.

Anesthesiology:
Student adds to his/her knowledge of obstetrical anesthesiology and generalizes knowledge to midwifery practice
Pediatrics:
The student adds to his/her knowledge of diseases among new-borns and infants and generalizes the knowledge to midwifery care and practice.
