OK00BY13 Practical Training in Midwifery Care during Pregnancy (12 cr)
Prerequisites Student has also completed at least 140 ECTS credits in nursing degree programs.
Objectives Student
- can independently carry out planning, implementation and evaluation of low risk pregnancy
- can apply methods of pregnancy follow-up and treatment when identifying highrisk pregnancies and knows how to act as a member in a multiprofessional team recognizing the responsibilities of midwife
- can support and guide the family during pregnancy in a family-oriented, resource-oriented and health-promoting way.
- uses self-assessment in a critical way and knows how to develop own working methods
- practices under supervision safe and competent medication administration
Content Practical training appr. 8 weeks in maternity health center and antenatal care unit in hospital, in units that meet the requirements of the EU-directives. Planning and implementation of Childbirth and Family Education. Student Midwife's Workbook /cases.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.

I reflect on my skills, my work and my professional growth in a learning diary.
Execution methods I develop my skills by working in units that require midwifery skills.
I evaluate my own work and skills during my practical training and also develop my practice based on the feedback I receive
I achieve the professional competence in midwifery required by the EU Directives in practical training placements.
In addition to the qualitative objectives, I will achieve the quantitative objectives (minimum number of EU directives for the practical training).

Further Information Recognition of Prior Learning:
Relevant work experience (1 year of work experience as a nurse). Different possibilities to recognise and assess prior learning and meet the acquired competences is to be planned with the teacher in charge of the course.

Implementation of Practical training needs to planned in advance if it takes place in an employment relationship.
