Description


OK00BW15 Professionalism in Midwifery - practical training (3 cr)
Prerequisites The student has also completed at least 140 CR in nursing degree programs or equivalent knowledge.
Objectives Student
- is able to apply and develop his/her knowledge in midwifery care and it's special situations
- familiarizes oneself with different procedures and cultural models of midwifery and can critically evaluate different approaches.
- demonstrates and is able to argumentate the midwifery knowledge base and actions
- uses self-assessment in a critical way and knows how to develop own working methods
- deepens his/ her professional midwifery skills and makes a personal competence portfolio (written, digital, etc.)
Content 1)
Deepening the competence in different areas of midwifery depending on the interests of the student, special issues and the management of such situations. Units that meet the requirements of the EU-directives and alternative assessment methods.

Personal competence portfolio
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Practical training can be implemented in alternative ways in project, simulation etc.

I reflect on my skills, my work and my professional growth in a learning diary.
Execution methods I develop my skills by working in units that require midwifery skills.
I evaluate my own work and skills during my practical training and also develop my practice based on the feedback I receive
I achieve the professional competence in midwifery required by the EU Directives in practical training placements.
In addition to the qualitative objectives, I will achieve the quantitative objectives (minimum number of EU directives for the practical training).

I will produce a portfolio of professional competences at the end of my studies.

- applies knowledge of midwifery in a comprehensive way, based on evidence-based knowledge
- deepens knowledge of sexual and reproductive health in work
- understands role as a student and acts responsibly and professionally in a interprofessional working community.
- evaluates one's own professional and nursing ethics.
- develops and evaluates own interaction and supervisory skills.
- understands the uses and effects of main medications. Medication management under supervision.
- achieves personal competence objectives and identifies own development needs.
