Prerequisites | Competencies in the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, physiotherapeutic assessment and clinical reasoning, and therapeutic exercise according to the curriculum. |
Objectives | Part 1: Geriatrics and Neurology: The student knows the most common geriatric and neurological diseases Part 2: Basics of physiotherapy for aging and neurological rehabilitation patients: The student understands functional changes caused by neurological diseases or aging. He/she is familiar with the functional capacity assessment recommendations and understands their importance in physiotherapy. The student understands the basics of applying therapy methods Part 3: GAS method: The student can evaluate the achievement of the goal by applying the GAS method Part 4: Workshop: The student understands basics mobility patterns and knows how to direct ADL activities for aging and neurological rehabilitation patients. He/she knows ways to assess functional capacity of elderly and neurological patients |
Content | Part 1: Geriatrics and neurology, 1 cr The most common neurological and geriatric diseases. Part 2: Fundamentals of rehabilitator-oriented physiotherapy methods, 5 cr Basics of physiotherapy for elderly and neurological rehabilitation patients. Changes in functional capacity caused by aging and neurological diseases. Physiotherapy assessment of functional capacity of elderly and neurological rehabilitation patients. Rehabilitation-oriented application of physiotherapy methods. Part 3: GAS method, 1 cr GAS goal achievement evaluation method Part 4: Workshop, 1 cr Guidance of movements and ADL activities.
