OF00DW45 Physiotherapy in Occupational Health Care (3 cr)
Prerequisites Recommended to be completed towards the end of studies
Objectives The student knows the role and tasks of the physiotherapist in occupational health care environment. The student dentifies work-related stress and strain factors and exposures and their relevance to health. The student develops proposals for action on them. The student understands the main laws and regulations governing occupational health care and good occupational health care practice guideline. The student knows the work processes in occupational health care and understand evidence-based practice in occupational health care. The student recognizes his role as part of multiprofessional team promoting occupational well-being. The student identifies her/his own competences and development needs in the occupational health care setting.
Content The role and tasks of an occupational physiotherapist as an occupational health care professional.
Occupational health care in the Finnish social and health care service system.
Occupational health care legislation in Finland and good occupational health care practice.
Key occupational health care processes.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.

The student understands the operating environment of occupational health care and the regulations and instructions that guide it. The student understands the role and duties of occupational physiotherapy in occupational health care. The student understands how the most common occupational physiotherapy interventions are performed and is able to justify doing them.
