Prerequisites | Major Public Health Problems (O4051HO) 3 cr or equivalent knowledge. |
Objectives | The student knows both general and local anaesthesia and acute and chronic pain management.The student can classify the most common psychiatrical diseases and mental health disorders and explain their characteric features and use pharmacological knowledge and explain the medical treatments of them. The student knows the basics of medical studies of intoxicant agents. The student can classify the most common diseases of the elderly, explain their characteric features, use pharmacological information and account for their medical treatment. |
Content | A. part (1 cr.): General and local anaesthesia; pain management. B. part: psychiatry (1 cr.): schizophrenia ja other psychoses, affective disorders, personality disorders, neurotic disorders. Psychiatric medication. Diseases caused by alcohol and drug abuse. Geriatrics (1 cr.):The most common diseases among the elderly and the medical treatment of them. |

Further Information | RPL (whole course): student has completed a course of similar content and credits in another university. Demonstration of competence: official diploma and written essay in which the student evaluates his/her competence in reference to the aims of the course. The written paper is 2-3 pages and it is sent to the teacher in charge of the course. RPL (part of the course): the student has completed studies of part of the course in another university or has completed additional education of the content of the course after approriate prior vocational training. Demonstration of competence: official diploma and written assignment in which the student reviews his/her competence regarding the aims of the course. The paper is submitted to the teacher in charge of the course. The extent of the paper and equivalance of credits are evaluated by the teacher. The competence can also be assessed in a test. Nb!
