Description


O4051HO Major Public Health Problems (3 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives The student knows the most common chronic public health problems, infectious diseases, their epidemiological, aetiological, pathogenetic and physiological changes, diagnostic features, clinical characteristics and medical treatment.
Content Cardiovascular diseases: coronary heart disease, hypertension, cardiac insufficiency; endocrinological diseases: diabetes; cancerous diseases: breast cancer, prostate cancer; diaseases of teh musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, common bone fractures; cerebrovascular diseases: TIA, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage; diseases of the alimentary system: ulcer, chronic bowl disease; pulmonary diseases: asthma, COPD; allergy; infectious diseases: respiratory infection, infection of the digestive tract, sepsis.

Further Information RPL (whole course): student has completed a course of similar content and credits in another university. Demonstration of competence: official diploma and written essay in which the student evaluates his/her competence in reference to the aims of the course. The written paper is 2-3 pages and it is sent to the teacher in charge of the course.
RPL (part of the course): the student has completed studies of part of the course in another university or has completed additional education of major public health problems after approriate prior vocational training. Demonstration of competence: official diploma and written assignment in which the student reviews his/her competence regarding the aims of the course. The paper is submitted to the teacher in charge of the course. The extent of the paper and equivalance of credits are evaluated by the teacher. The competence can also be assessed in a test.
Nb! RPL is not requested by eHops. The teacher marks the grade in the register when the demonstration of competence is approved.
