O0024ST Basics of Human Anatomy and Physiology (5 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives The student knows the structure and the main functions of cells, tissues and organs, and understands the importance of them to the function of the human body. He/she knows the regulation of body systems. The student can locate the organs, and masters the most important scientific concepts of the field. The student has proficiency to work in the field of nursing.
Content Cells and transport processes in the cell membrane. Tissue. Skin. Muscles. Blood tissue. Blood circulation and respiratory system. Digestive system. Water balance. Lymphatic system. Urinary system. Introduction to hormones. Endocrinological glands. Acid-base balance. Genital organs. Thermoregulation. Human sense organs. Nervous system. Motor functions.
