7E00BN32 | Advanced Level Prehospital Emergency Care (10 cr) |
Prerequisites | Proficiency test or pass on corresponding test in prehospital emergency care at basic level. |
Objectives | Student is capable to systematically analyse and assess the basic vital functions of critically ill or injured emergency patients in prehospital situatios. Student is able to perceive the overall situation in the scene. Student demonstrates ability to make a work diagnosis and provide care for patients on the basis of the most severe symptoms. Student is able to use modern communication technologies, emergency care equipment, medication used in an emergency setting, and can utilize advanced emergency care interventions when needed. Student masters advanced life support and is able to lead the resuscitation and prehospital emergency team. Student is able to carry out responsibilities of prehospital emergency care at advanced level. |
Content | Evidence based decision making; reflection on alternatives and grounds for choices. Sudden changes in patients` condition: anticipation and preparedness for necessary activities. Advanced life support: medical direction and patients` aftercare. Pharmacotherapy in advanced level emergency care. Ethical and legal responsibility. Leading emergency care incidents. CRM, management of multiple- patient emergency situation. |
