Prerequisites | No prerequisites needed. |
Objectives | The student has gained knowledge of clinical physiology and neurophysiology as specialities. The student has widened his/her knowledge of the clinical physiological examinations of respiratory organs, cardiovascular system and digestive system, the quality of the examinations and their clinical use. The student has familiarized him/herself with the methods of examination and the equipment used in clinical neurophysiology, and the clinical use of the examinations. The student is aware of a nurse¿s role in the neurophysiology unit. |
Content | Part 1 (1 ECTS): Clinical physiology as a speciality. The quality of EKG and the most common EKG changes. Additional electrophysiological examinations of heart. Clinical stress test. Long-term examinations. Diffusing capacity, nitric oxide analysis and other pulmonary function examinations. Standardisation and the quality of examinations. Principal issues concerning the examinations of children by clinical and laboratory methods. Part II (2 ECTS): Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Clinical neurophysiology: basic concepts and investigations. EEG, evoked potential and the ENMG examinations, and their clinical use. Nurses working in the clinical neurophysiology laboratory. |
