Objectives | This course introduces the basic methods in molecular biology and genetics. Students are practising basic DNA-techniques and cell-culture methods in the laboratory. |
Content | Basics of gene technology: DNA-isolation, subcloning of DNA to the plasmid vector, PCR, electrophoresis of DNA and cell culturing. Isolation of chromosomes. |

pass/fail The student works in the team responsibly. The student performs the tasks according to the instructions given. The student can explain the basic principles of cell culture and gene technology methods used in the practical course. The student is present at each laboratory exercise. The student passes written exam (exercises 1-3). The student has an approved learning diary on chromosome isolation work. |
