O1018BA | Diagnostic Histopathology and Cytology (5 cr) |
Prerequisites | No prerequisites needed. |
Objectives | The student has familiarized him/herself with the basic concepts of pathology and changes in the normal functioning of the human body caused by a disease. The student has knowledge of the sampling of tissue and cells, the principles of sample handling and the role of pathology laboratory in providing total patient care. The student has gained basic knowledge of tissue and cell types and preparation techniques. The student demonstrates ability to assess the quality of tissue sections and exfoliated cells. The student has knowledge of gynaecological inflammatory factors and malignant anaplastic changes and is able to distinguish between normal and pathological findings. |
Content | Basics of pathology; sampling; basic methods used in diagnostic histopathology and cytology; normal histology of tissues; staining and immunohistochemistry in diagnostics; basics of cytological diagnostics. |
