O1009BA	Sample Collection, Practical Training (4 cr)
Prerequisites	No prerequisites needed.
Objectives	The student gains knowledge and skills in specimen collection. The student pays attention to patient safety and safety in work community. The student demonstrates ability to collect accurate specimens, prepare them for testing and preserve them in accordance with instructions.
Content	Blood collection techniques, handling of the specimens and preservation. Midstream urine sample. Stool specimen: identification of blood in the faeces. Nose and throat swab specimen. Safety training: safety and isolation precautions.
Recommended optional programme components	If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
