7Q00BK37 Adult in Mammography and Ultrasound Examinations (4 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites.
Objectives Part 1 (3 ECTS): The student can explain the principles of implementation and evaluation in screening test. She/he can explain, how the breast cancer screening is planned, implemented and evaluated by a mammography examination in Finland. She/he can also explain the differences in screening practice between countries. The student can explain the facts which influence to the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical and screening mammography. The student can explain what are the further mammography examinations and interventions and how they are carried out when examining breast symptoms and what is the role of a radiographer in those situations. The student can explain the content of patient guidance in mammography and in further examinations. The student can explain, what are the most common ultrasound examinations and interventions in radiologic imaging and understands the radiographer's responsibility in those examinations. She/he can explain the content of patient guidance in most common ultrasound examinations. She/he can apply infection control in ultrasound interventions. The student can explain the meaning of laboratory tests and medication in planning and implementing of ultrasound specimens. She/he can also explain how radiographer is responsible for specimens. The student can tell, how the sustainable development is implemented in mammography and ultrasound examinations.
Part 2 (1 ECTS): The student can explain the facts affecting to the planning, implementing and evaluation of the most common fluoroscopic examinations of the gastrointestinal tract and the urinary tract. She/he can describe the safe use of contrast media in those examinations.
Content Part 1: Screening in health care. Clinical and screening mammography; further mammography examinations. Ultrasound examinations and collection of the samples under ultrasound guidance.
Part 2: Fluoroscopic examinations of the gastrointestinal tract and the urinary tract. Contrast media.
