Objectives | The student: • defines the structure and the main functions of cells, tissues, and organs, and understands the importance of their functions to the human body; • can locate the vital organ systems of a human body; • knows the regulation of the body functions; • understands the most important scientific concepts in human anatomy and physiology; and • develops theoretical knowledge in human anatomy and physiology applicable to the nursing field. |
Content | The course is divided into two parts for two consecutive semesters. The first part is 3 ECTS and the second part is 2 ECTS. Part I (Basic Structures and Functions): Cell. Tissues. Skin. Skeletal and muscular systems. Blood. Cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Lymphatic system. Digestive system. Renal/Urinary system. Reproductive systems. Part II (Endocrine and Nervous Systems): Endocrine system and hormones. Water and salt balance. Acid-base balance. Glucose balance. Anatomy of the nervous system. Motor functions. Autonomic nervous system. Sense organs. Thermoregulation. |
