TM00DU33 Sustainable Approaches in Material and Manufacturing Technologies (5 cr)
Prerequisites Manufacturing techniques 1 and 2
Material technology
Objectives On this course, you will learn what are the sustainable materials and what is their impact in improving current designs and processes. In addition, you will acquire a deeper knowledge of how sustainable materials are opening new opportunities for new products and manufacturing processes.
You also gain information of how to consider lifetime costs of traditional materials vs. more sustainable materials, modern way of thinking and develop an overall image of the sustainable materials technology and understand its basic principles.
Understand the problems of today’s consumption of resources and how to start utilizing sustainable materials to help in resolving consumption of raw materials.
Create a vision of practical activities that could be undertaken to start utilizing sustainable material technologies.

Steels including structural, casting and ultra-strength steels
Aluminums, alloys and profiles and their usages

Ceramics
Glues, how to use in modern manufacturing
Typical manufacturing method for all materials and sustainable production
