| Prerequisites | Previous courses of Degree Programme in Information technology or equivalent skills. Generic programming and command line basic skills. |
| Objectives | The student can describe the components and architecture of a computer and its operating principle. The student understands the role of operating system in a computer and can identify the most common operating systems. The student is able to perform administrative activities related to the Linux operating system. |
| Content | The central processing unit (CPU) and main memory in a computer, execution of instructions and programs, peripheral devices that are usually connected to a computer. Command line shell, data processing, installing and compiling software, the basics of common services and networking, the fundamentals of shell scripting and server administration tasks. |
