Objectives | The student can understand and use common everyday expressions and phrases. The student knows the basics of Finnish vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. The student learns some facts about the Finnish everyday culture and habits. |
Content | Everyday communication situations focusing on simple phrases and telling about oneself. General information on the Finnish language and pronunciation. Basic grammatical structures: vowel harmony, k-p-t consonant gradation, verb types 1-5, nominative, singular partitive, genitive case, imperative case in 2nd person singular, local cases, forming simple affirmative and negative sentences and questions. Finnish everyday culture and habits. The topics: time expressions, making appointments, everyday routines, describing things, telling about hobbies, house types, furniture and household appliances, expressing opinions, place names. |
