7W00DX81 Assessment in Occupational Therapy, practice (7 cr)
Prerequisites Prior studies: Functional Anatomy and Physiology, Philosophical and Theoretical Basis of Occupational Therapy, Occupation in Relation to Wellbeing, Occupational Therapy as a part of Rehabilitation (practical training), Applied Medicine, Methods of Client-centered Assessment and Methods of Client-centered Therapy.
Practice with children and youth requires criminal record certificate.
Objectives The student has a client-oriented approach to work when assessing the needs of clients, their interests and occupational performance. The student has gained knowledge about the ethical guidelines concerning occupational therapy and the field of health and social care and demonstrates ability to follow the guidelines. The student is able to assess the client in different occupations and environments. The student is able to record assessment results and reflect on his/her own work.The student demonstrates ability to, under supervision, use the central assessment methods in occupational therapy for clients in different age groups as well as the central assessment methods based on conceptual models and frames of reference of occupational therapy.

The student recognizes and knows how to describe the role of an occupational therapist in his internship and knows how to name key collaborators.
The student understands ergonomics and asepsis instructions and follows them.
The student behaves professionally, knows working life practices and safety instructions, and follows them.
The student recognizes a customer-oriented and ethical way of working and describes their realization in their own customer relationships.
The student understands the basics of functional ability assessment and knows the purposes of different assessment methods.
The student applies the theory of occupational therapy and chooses evaluation methods with justification using guidance.
The student uses evaluation methods when evaluating the customer's performance and evaluates the reliability of their use.
The student draws some conclusions guided by the evaluations of functional capacity and records in the patient information system in a guided manner.
The student carries out a self-evaluation, identifying and describing his learning in various guidance situations.
