OT00DY53 Client-Centred Health Care for the Older Adult (4 cr)
Prerequisites The student has completed 140 credits of studies in the nursing degree programme
The student has completed The National examination of core competencies in nursing
Objectives The student take´s a client-centered approach to ageing, assessing older people's well-being and health, functional capacity and service needs.
The student describes the care and service network for older people and identify the role and involvement of carers in the care of older people.
The student knows the regulations and programs governing the well-being and health promotion of older people
The student provides evidence-based care and guidance for older people (care recommendations, evidence-based practice, reviews)
The student can identify, select and implement appropriate nursing and health care activities to assess and promote the health and functional capacity of older people and their relatives
The student can Integrate prior learning and the knowledge base of health promotion in the specific context of older people's health care work
The student can identify development challenges in the field of care and nursing for older people, and understand the expertise of the nurse in this multi-professional development work

Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods The Student demonstrate competences by applying and deepening knowledge and working independently and in small groups on course assignments and she/he practice in skills workshops and simulation exercises.
